Storm Tree Debris

The last day to bring Tree Debris from the tornadoes in January 2023 to the Landfill for free will be March 31, 2023. 

Holiday Closing

The Landfill will be closed on Friday April 7, 2023 in observance of the Good Friday Holiday.  We will re-open on Saturday April 8, 2023 for regular business hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.

About Us

The landfill is for the use of Newton County residents only. Commercial disposers are accepted with proper documentation showing the Origin of the Load. 

Out of county waste is prohibited from disposal at the Newton County Landfill by county ordinance. You may review the Ordinance by following the link below.

Normal Operating Hours

With the exception of most Newton County holidays the landfill is open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

Fees

There is a $30 minimum charge per visit, which pays for up to 1,180 pounds. For loads more than 1,180 pounds, the tipping fee is $51 per ton. Tires are accepted subject to charges based on size and whether the tire is on the rim.

Accepted forms of payment: cash, credit card or check.

Household Electronics

Recycle household electronics and dispose of unwanted paint (residential only, no commercial) on the first Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. to noon at the Newton County Landfill.  There is a limit of 10 gallons per household per month.

Acceptable Electronics

Electronics currently accepted include:

  • A/C adapters
  • Batteries-Lithium Ion and NiCad (tool bat only)
  • Boards-HG, LG, and MG
  • CD-ROM and Floppy Drives
  • Computer Fans
  • Hard Drives-Shredded and Whole
  • Heat Sink
  • Hubs and Routers
  • Laptops-Complete and Incomplete
  • LCD Monitors with no blemishes
  • Memory-Gold and Silver
  • Modems
  • PCs - Complete and Incomplete
  • Power Supply with wire
  • Processors
  • UPS

Unacceptable Items

Used motor oil, used transmission fluid and spent engine cleaner are not accepted. These all may be recycled at your local auto parts store.

Hazardous Chemicals are not accepted.

Boats and Ski Jets are not accepted.

Propane Tanks are not accepted.
