Cheerleading:

2012 Cheerleading Registration:
June 4th - July 13th! 

The Newton County Recreation Commission Cheerleading program is offered to girls, ages 5-12. This program institutes the fundamentals of the sport while teaching participants new techniques, cheers and chants as well as tumbling and stunts from the very basic to the more advanced.  Our cheerleading program is a stepping stone for those wishing to pursue the sport in Middle School. 

Our cheerleading squads cheer for our football program from September to early November ending with an in-house competition. Practice will begin in August. Teams are allowed to practice two times during the week and once on the weekends.

Trophies are awarded to 1st & 2nd place football teams in each division at the end of the season. Cheerleaders on a 1st or 2nd place winning team will also receive a trophy along with the football team.

Age Control Date: August 1st, 2012

5-6 year olds - Training League
7-8 year olds - Division I
9-10 year olds - Division II
11-12 year olds - Division III
(Girls may move up to an older division to cheer with an older sibling but will not be permitted to cheer down in a younger division).

Registration Information

All participants are required to provide a certified copy of a birth certificate to enroll in any program we offer. Once we have obtained a copy, we will keep it on file for future registrations. We also require that you provide proof of residency which would include any one of the following:
  • Current utility bill
  • Lease agreement/mortgage statement

  • $10 Sibling discount available
  • $50 Out of county fee (please see ex. of proof of residence above)

 

Uniform Package
Each participant will receive: 
  • shell & skirt
  • 1 pair of briefs/bloomers
  • 1 pair of socks
  • 1 matching hair-bow 
  • 1 set of pompons
Fitting dates will be scheduled and your child's coach will be notified. We request that all girls have at least 1 parent with them at their fitting. Uniforms are non-refundable and a parent will be required to sign for sizes ordered.

Uniform Fitting Dates & Additional Info: 

Uniform Fittings:  Please have your child wear a bathing suit under her clothes.

    First week of August. Exact dates and times will be determined at a later time.

Please make sure a parent accompanies cheerleader to fitting.  A parent will be required to sign for the size uniform being ordered.  Uniforms are non-refundable and will not be exchanged.

Practice Begins:  August 4th

 Games Begin:  September 8th

 Team Pictures:    September 12th - 15th

Raffle Ticket Drawing Date:  Opening Day

Cheer Competition 2012 -  November 3rd
